Assemblymember Rick Chavez Zbur Releases Statement on ICE Raids in Assembly District 51

For immediate release:

I'm horrified to learn that ICE officers have entered Assembly District 51, spreading fear and chaos among members of our community. This morning, I was shown videos and photos of what appears to be ICE agents detaining street vendors near the corner of St. Andrews Place and De Longpre Avenue, by the Hollywood Home Depot. We cannot accept this as our new reality. President Trump's actions are traumatizing children, tearing families apart, and targeting good people who work, pay taxes, and have lived in California for decades. Like members of my own family, they came to the United States in search of a better life. But instead, they've been demonized by a president whose goal is not the safety, security, and prosperity of the American people, but to play on fear and hate. I stand in solidarity with the people and communities being torn apart without due process and fully condemn the President’s authoritarian tactics.

Assemblymember Rick Chavez Zbur serves as the Democratic Caucus Chair for the California State Assembly, is a member of the California Legislative LGBTQ+ Caucus California Legislative and Jewish Caucus, and represents the 51st Assembly District, which includes Universal City, Hollywood, Hancock Park, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Westwood, West Los Angeles, Santa Monica, and other portions of Los Angeles.
