Information for Santa Monica Residents
Evacuation Warning: Santa Monica areas North of San Vicente Boulevard
Residents may voluntarily return to this area but should remain prepared with gathered essentials and be ready to leave if conditions worsen.
There are currently no mandatory evacuation orders in the city of Santa Monica and no active fires in Santa Monica.
All entry points into the city of Los Angeles from Santa Monica and Pacific Coast Highway remain closed. The public is not allowed to enter Los Angeles evacuation zones, as they are still under evacuation orders.
Thank you to all Santa Monica residents who were impacted by the evacuations for your patience and understanding. We are fortunate that fires did not cross into Santa Monica, and we didn’t lose any homes or businesses. Our hearts go out to all those throughout the region who are facing such catastrophic loss, including many of our own city employees and local business owners.
Curfew
A curfew is in effect from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. in all evacuation zones, including the area from San Vicente Boulevard north to the city limit in Santa Monica. Law enforcement, along with the California National Guard, remains stationed to monitor activity, assist residents and secure the area. Over 40 arrests have been made since Jan. 7 for crimes such as burglary and drug possession. Report any suspicious activity to 911 for emergencies or (310) 458-8491.
Price Gouging
The City of Santa Monica issued an emergency order in response to the impacts of the Palisades Fire that includes a prohibition on price gouging, a temporary lifting of the short-term rentals ban and other protections for those who have been impacted by the fire.

Call 911 to report down power lines or immediate threats to life or property. Report down trees and other non-emergency situations to 311.
School Closures
All Santa Monica schools are open with normal operations as of Tuesday, Jan. 14. Malibu schools are closed due to air quality, road access, evacuation orders and ongoing fire threat until further notice.
Santa Monica College resumed services on January 13. The Malibu campus will remain remote until further notice.
Free N-95 Masks
The Santa Monica Public Library has a limited amount of N95 masks available to the public. They will be distributed by Library Services Officers during operating hours at the north entrance of the Main Library at 601 Santa Monica Blvd. Limit two masks per person present, while supplies last.

Cleanup
Public Works crews are actively clearing debris, including in the evacuation warning zones. Regular trash, recycling and organic waste collection has resumed and while parking enforcement is suspended through January 17, residents are encouraged to follow street sweeping signs to support cleanup efforts.
To minimize health risks and environmental contamination, please avoid using leaf blowers or power washing ash, as these actions can disperse dust or pollute waterways. Instead, sweep and safely dispose of ash and debris.
Water & Utilities
The water provided to residents by the City of Santa Monica is safe to use and drink. The water system is operating normally and meeting demand.
LADWP customers north of San Vicente Boulevard on Woodacres Rd., Esparta Wy., and Ermont Pl., in ZIP code 90402 in Santa Monica, are under LADWP’s do not drink notice.
Some mail delivery services may be impacted due to the emergency.
Transportation
Road closures remain in place until further notice for the westbound I-10 past Lincoln Boulevard and northbound Pacific Coast Highway and all access points for northbound PCH.
Big Blue Bus service routes are impacted.
Bike lanes and routes are still available.
Family & Service Impacts
All city offices and public counters resumed normal operating hours.
The following city facilities are closed:
- Annenberg Community Beach House: Closed through Jan. 17.
- Recreation classes for the Annenberg Community Beach House will remain closed through Jan. 17.

Price Gouging
Price gouging during a state of emergency is illegal under Penal Code Section 396.
Californians who believe they have been the victim of price gouging should report it to their local authorities or to the State Attorney General.
Shelters Available for Displaced Residents
The California's Governor's Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is coordinating with several California state agencies and local governments to ensure displaced residents have access to shelters and vital services.

California Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara issued a mandatory one-year moratorium on insurance non-renewals and cancellations for zip codes in areas directly affected by the Eaton and Palisades fires.
