Carrillo, State Assembly Celebrate Cinco de Mayo
(Sacramento) – Led by State Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo (D-Los Angeles), the California State Assembly passed House Resolution 104 declaring Cinco de Mayo week in California. What began as a celebration of the courage shown by the Mexican army at the Battle of Puebla has since expanded to recognize the contributions of Latinos across the country, from the civil rights movement to the immigrant rights movement. “I hope we all take a moment today to reflect on the interwoven history of our people and the contributions of Latinos across the country,” said Assemblymember Carrillo as she presented HR 104.
