Assemblymember Jimmy Gomez Tapped to Chair Select Committee on Domestic Violence
SACRAMENTO — Assemblymember Jimmy Gomez (D-Los Angeles) has been tapped by Speaker Anthony Rendon to chair the Assembly’s Select Committee on Domestic Violence. Assemblymember Gomez previously chaired the select committee during the 2013-2014 legislative session. He returns to the leadership role with a clear focus.
“I am honored to be once again selected as the Chair of the Assembly’s Select Committee on Domestic Violence,” said Assemblymember Gomez. "I look forward to working with my partners in the domestic violence prevention community to continue to tackle issues such as recognizing coercive control, providing resources for underserved communities, and better educating our children on teen dating violence.”
Assemblymember Gomez has authored several pieces of legislation to combat domestic violence, such as: AB 1547 to ensure California’s domestic violence advisory council in law, and AB 1338 to increase funding for investigation and prosecution of sexual assault cases.

Assemblymember Jimmy Gomez represents the 51st Assembly District which includes the Northeast Los Angeles neighborhoods of Echo Park, Historic Filipinotown, Chinatown, Glassell Park, Montecito Heights, Monterey Hills, El Sereno, Highland Park, Mt. Washington, Lincoln Heights, City Terrace, Elysian Valley, Cypress Park, Eagle Rock, portion of Silver Lake, and unincorporated East Los Angeles.
