For immediate release:

SACRAMENTO –Assemblywoman Wendy Carrillo (D-Los Angeles) has been appointed as the Chair of Assembly Committee on Budget, Subcommittee No. 4 – State Administration, by Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood). This bipartisan committee with one Chair, four Members, and two Alternates oversees all departments responsible for state programs, services, initiatives, and codes.

“It is my belief that the state budget is a statement of values, a promise to all Californians affirming tangible relief and protections; equitable recovery and future preparedness. It ensures that accountability begins and ends with fulfillment of responsibility.” said Assemblywoman Carrillo. “This year the state budget will tackle some of our biggest issues including housing, homelessness, challenges with the Employment Development Department (EDD), small businesses recovery amid COVID-19 and outdated technology. I am honored that Speaker Rendon has entrusted me to Chair Assembly Budget Committee Sub 4 and I looking forward to meeting the present-day and future needs of Californians who count on our safety-nets, systems, offices, agencies, departments, and all those charged with fulfilling the promise of California for all,” she added.

“Assemblymember Carrillo has shown, even before joining the Assembly, that she has a serious interest in accountability and oversight. As chair of this committee, I expect that she will guide us toward a state government that is both efficient and sensitive to the human needs of Californians,” said Speaker Rendon.

Assemblywoman Carrillo will continue to serve the Assembly Committees for Appropriations, Health, Privacy and Consumer Protections, and Utilities and Energy.
