Gov. Gavin Newsom signed AB 648, a bill to streamline student, staff and faculty housing projects on community college campuses like Santa Monica College, into law on Oct. 7. The bill was introduced by Santa Monica Assemblymember and Democratic Caucus Chair Rick Chavez Zbur, and sponsored by Santa Monica College, Abundant Housing LA, Student Homes Coalition, and the Los Angeles Community College District.
